My Origin Story - Pilates
how it all started…
My Pilates Origin Story
I didn’t come to Pilates because I wanted longer, leaner muscles or to look good in Lululemon. I came because I was already deep in the trenches—teaching, directing, sweating, moving. After years in the fitness industry—decades, really—wearing the hats of teacher, program director, international presenter, and workshop junkie, I found myself asking a deeper question: What’s the glue that holds movement together?
Enter Pilates.
It wasn’t love at first sight. It was more like a curious eyebrow raise followed by a slow burn. The discipline, the demand for control and precision, the way it challenged my body and my brain—it hooked me. This wasn’t just another workout. This was a system. A method. A philosophy.
I got certified. I got obsessed. Then I got even more curious. That led me to Balanced Body, where I not only dove into the work, but started helping shape it—training future instructors, writing manuals, developing curriculum, and doing my part to ensure that Pilates education wasn’t just accurate, but embodied and sustainable.
Now, years (and thousands of hours) later, I teach, I mentor, I advocate. I still sweat. And I still believe Pilates has the power to transform—bodies, minds, and maybe even the way we move through life.
